For the first time this year, pupils from some Ceredigion schools had the opportunity to compete in a quiz competition organised by South West Wales’ Mentrau Iaith called Cwis Dim Clem.
The regional rounds were organised by Cered: Menter Iaith Ceredigion.
Pupils from central Ceredigion schools competed in order to make it to the final, where Ysgol Talgarreg came second against schools from Neath-Port Talbot, Brecknockshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Cwis Dim Clem is a quiz for Year 6 pupils where the aim is to develop new Welsh-medium opportunities for school children and to develop links between schools and the Mentrau Iaith.
The teams competed against each other on various topics from geography, science and mathematics to sport, music and food.
The school that scores the most points in every round progresses to the final to compete against the champions from the other counties of the South West.
Cwis Dim Clem has been held for several years and in 2019 the scheme expanded to include new counties such as Ceredigion.
In this first year, Cered: Menter Iaith Ceredigion piloted Cwis Dim Clem in the Lampeter and Aberaeron area by holding local rounds in the two areas and a semi-final for the best teams.
