A small number of pupils at an Aberystwyth secondary school have been asked to self-isolate following the confirmation of Covid-19 at the school.
This is the third time a positive coronavirus case has been identified at Ysgol Penglais in the last two weeks.
On Monday morning, a small group of pupils were asked to self-isolate after being confirmed as contacts of the positive case and now must remain at home for 14 days to reduce the possible spread of the virus to family, friends and the wider community.
Ceredigion County Council has not stated which year the pupils come from.
The pupils will be taught remotely for this period.
Two weeks ago, a small number Year 7 pupils were asked to self-isolate at Ysgol Penglais and last Monday, a Year 8 tutor group and maths group were also asked to self-isolate for 14 days following confirmation of a Covid case.
A spokesperson for Ceredigion council said: “Due to the strong procedures that have been put in place in the school, only a small number of pupils are being asked to self-isolate.
“The parents of all these pupils have been contacted by the school and will also be supported by Ceredigion Contact Tracing Team."
This latest positive case comes after seven schools in the Cardigan area were closed for two weeks following a ‘significant rise’ in Covid-19 cases in the local community and some reception class pupils at Ysgol Bro Pedr were asked to self-isolate following confirmation of a coronavirus case at that school.
