TWO Gold young ambassadors from Penglais School have spoken of their “amazing experience” spending two weeks on a work placement at a football club in Italy.

Lowri Walker and Jac Horwood, both sixth-form pupils at the Aberystwyth secondary school, were selected to represent Ceredigion at the highest level of the national young ambassador programme due to their sporting talent, commitment and ability as young leaders to inspire others.

Lowri plays football for Aston Villa FC and has gained a football scholarship in America next year, while Jac is also pursuing a career in sport and is planning to study a sports degree in September and go onto to become a physical education teacher.

The sport-mad pair were elated when they were given the opportunity to travel to Turin, Italy, where they gained invaluable work experience at Serie A — the Italian equivalent of the English Premier League — football club, Torino FC.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, Lowri and Jac told of the “invaluable” and “amazing” experiences observing academy coaching, speaking to local primary school pupils about life in Wales, visiting football museums in the historic city, and watching a love game between Torino FC and Lazio.

“It was an amazing experience which I would definitely do again,” said Lowri.
