HYFFORDDIANT Ceredigion Training is busy offering a wide range of vocational courses for young people in the county, and it looks to be another jam-packed year.

HCT in Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth, offers a range of traineeship and apprenticeship courses to prepare people of all ages for the workplace by providing skills training in a range of areas including hairdressing, beauty, childcare, business administration, carpentry, motor mechanics, blacksmithing and much more.

HCT’s new website has been launched which provides the latest information on the variety of courses and programmes which are available throughout the year.

The website includes case studies for students who’ve gone on to gain success in their areas of expertise. Gareth and Bethan are two students who trained at HCT.

Bethan Ireland is a student who’s about to begin an apprenticeship course in hairdressing and beauty, and explains what attracted her to embark on a course with HCT.

She said: “I have always wanted to be a hairdresser from a very young age and was fortunate to be given the opportunity to fulfil my dreams during Year 10 and 11 in secondary school. I successfully completed a VRQ Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing, which was delivered by HCT. HCT helped me decide my career path.

“During this time I had a Saturday job working in a local salon, which gave me a taste of the industry and have now been employed for an apprenticeship in hairdressing. As part of the VRQ course my tutor entered me in the National Urdd Eisteddfod 2017 and I was fortunate to receive second prize in the hairdressing competition.

“I am now looking forward to improving my technical skills, learning while I work in a real salon environment."
