A school appeal to buy a new minibus has been given a boost by a local hall committee.
Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos in Penparcau, Aberystwyth is attempting to raise £10,000 to buy a new minibus for its pupils.
After being made aware of the school PTFA appeal, the Neuadd Goffa Penparcau War Memorial Committee, chaired by Kevin Goodwin, agreed unanimously to make a donation of £500.
The school’s deputy head, Emlyn Jones, said the minibus was urgently needed to be used daily to take the children horse riding, swimming and to other outdoor activities, which without the new bus the children would miss out on by being unable to attend these key activities –
Neuadd Goffa committee secretary Patricia Bates, who has been a member of Llwyn yr Eos PTA as far back as the late 1960s with her two sons attending the school, spoke of her close affinity with the school as with so many other thousands of other parents and pupils in the Penparcau area over the past decades.
The donation cheque was presented to the school by Margaret Evans, Neuadd Goffa committee member with over 40 years’ service.
Emlyn Jones said how grateful everyone at the school are for all the donations received to date.
Donations are still being received and can be dropped off at the school.
