A 10-YEAR-OLD Aberystwyth girl has handed over a cheque for almost £2,500 to a charity which helped her family when her dad was diagnosed with cancer.

Ysgol Rhydypennau pupil Elin Gore helped raise £2,442 for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding a coffee morning at Rhydypennau Village Hall, after her father, Dusty Gore, was diagnosed with neck cancer in April.

Speaking to the Cambrian News before the coffee morning, Elin’s mum Nia said her 53-year-old husband was in the final stages of radiotherapy treatment after a tumour was successfully removed by surgeons.

And Mrs Gore said it was Elin who came up with the idea of holding a coffee morning to repay the “fantastic” support shown by the charity to the Gores, who live near Comins Coch.

Dusty, Nia and Elin said they would like to thank everyone who supported the coffee morning by attending, donating prizes and for the helpers on the day.

Nia said: “The support we have received as a family in the last few months has been amazing, thank you all. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd.”

“Dusty has finished his treatment, had his check-ups and is doing really well,” Nia told the Cambrian News.
