Film and TV actor Adrian Lukis is coming to Aberdyfi with his one-man show, ‘Being Mr Wickham’.
The play will be performed at Aberdyfi village hall and will raise money for The Wildlife Trusts.
Adrian played George Wickham in Andrew Davies’ adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ with Colin Firth as Darcy.
He has written and stars in ‘Being Mr Wickham’ in which George, now older, sets the record straight about why he had to be a charming rogue to survive.
The play is critically acclaimed and has had rave reviews after touring London, New York and Australia.
For fans of ‘Only Murders in the building’, Adrian has just finished filming series six alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep, and Richard E Grant to name a few.
Some of his other appearances include ‘Shades of Love’ and ‘The Crown.
Philippa Peate has organised the Aberdyfi date and cannot wait for people to see Adrian in action.
“It’s very exciting that Adrian Lukis has agreed to come to Aberdyfi,” she said.
“I highly recommend watching ‘Pride and Prejudice’ again (available on iPlayer and elsewhere) and then it will be fresh in your mind.
“I watch it every time I am ill from underneath a duvet on the sofa and many people have told me that they watch it every Christmas.
“Adrian’s voice is exactly the same now so I think that will add to the enjoyment.”
She added: “All proceeds after costs will be donated to The Wildlife Trusts who do wonderful work buying, restoring and protecting many wildlife habitats, including on our doorstep, protecting and restoring temperate rainforests and ancient woodlands and other habitats for Curlews, Skylarks, Oyster Catchers, Osprey (across the estuary at The Osprey centre), hazel dormice, pine martens, water voles, kingfishers, stoats, shrews, hedgehogs, etc.
“So many fantastic raffle prizes have been donated already including a print of a greenshank wading bird by artist Heather Butler, a set of three Noon Line cocktail cups, breakfast for two at Seabreeze, afternoon tea for four at The Trefeddian hotel, lunch or supper for two including a bottle of wine at The Penhelig Arms, a multicoloured striped bag from Braided Rug Company, and a necklace from Samphire to name a few.
“I organised another one man play to be performed for a different charity last December where John Bromley Davenport KC told the story of ‘The Christmas Carol’, playing all of the actors, which was so Christmassy and brought the whole village together and raised money for a good cause.
“Tickets are available directly from me (no booking fee) or online at Neuadd Dyfi website.”
‘Being Mr Wickham’is coming to Aberdyfi on Saturday 14th November!
