A Welsh artist who has made his paintings known in Wales over the past 10 years has taken his paintings to Switzerland.

Ceredigion artist Wynne Melville Jones spent the week with 100 artists at Europe’s largest art fair - Swiss Art Expo - held at the main station in Zurich in Switzerland.

The event in its eighth year attracts 80,000 visitors a day.

Wynne whose work is mainly inspired by the culture, language, history and way of life in Wales has been well received with clients in Wales, UK, India, Scandinavia, and USA including former US President Jimmy Carter and the Elvis Museum at Graceland Tenessee.

The exhibition at Zurich is a new venture for the artist. His work has already been displayed digitally during recent months on large screens at art events in Cologne, Palma, Paris and Milan.

"Taking original paintings to large scale events is another game and I have always believed that collectors want an opportunity to view the originals in art,” Wynne said.

"This visit to Switzerland has opened my eyes to the opportunity of reaching a new and a bigger market for my work.

"It has also highlighted the potential of taking Wales and an awareness of our small country to the wider world using art as a means of developing a positive and appealing, creative and hopefully a ground-breaking image of our country across the globe.

"Language often has its limitations in communicating images and character of any country while art has the scope for communicating undiluted clear and realistic visual messages.

"The Art Expo today into its third day has certainly attracted a very impressive international audience and the level of local interest and support is considerable.

"It has created excitement and a sense of occasion in this fine and prosperous city and although the level of awareness about Wales and all things Welsh is very limited we feel proud to be have brought with us a taste of Wales to share a place on the world market" said Wynne Melville Jones

The event was held from 2-6 September.
