The National library of Wales in Aberystwyth has long held papers by the celebrated bard Henry Lloyd – also known as ap Hefin and the writer of ‘I bob un sydd ffyddlon’.

On Monday, 10 August, his great nephew, David James Jones (David Annwn), a past student of University College Wales, Aberystwyth, presented his own 50-year archive to the National Library.

The archive contains, amongst hundreds of valuable documents, his own and Ap Hefin’s poetry, and correspondence with Nobel Prize-winners Seamus Heaney and Tomas Tranströmer.

Commenting on the handover of the archive, David said that Sian Bowyer and the other receiving library staff were “wonderfully welcoming and professional”.

“It feels as though my archive has come full circle over very many years,” he added.
