A kind-hearted 17-year-old who works in Abersoch has organised a live music night in the town to benefit a trio of charitable causes.

Erin Hitchcock, who works at Abersoch Surf Shop in the summer holidays, has organised the event which will take place this Saturday, 17 August at The Vaynol pub to raise money for three causes close to her heart – The Wales Air Ambulance, Clic Sargent cancer charity for children and young people and a school in Gambia which Erin will visit in November.

Fatman Alley, a Midlands-based cover band which Erin’s dad is a member of, will play on the night.

Money raised from the event will go to three important causes for Erin and her family.

Her teenage cousin Simon Gerry passed away in April after a long battle with cancer, and Clic Sargent offered one of their houses in Bristol for his family to stay at whilst he received treatment for almost a year.

Wales Air Ambulance played a pivotal role in saving the life of Erin’s 13-year-old-sister Thea.

When Thea was 15 months old she went into anaphylactic shock and had to be flown from Abersoch to hospital in Bangor.

The shock of this has stayed with Erin, and has inspired her to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance to support their vital work.

Erin is also visiting a junior school in Gambia in November to help teach children there and has been fundraising all year for the trip.

Erin, who is from Solihull said: “I spend all my holidays in Abersoch and Pwllheli and working at Abersoch Surf Shop, so this was the place I wanted to do a gig.

“My dad is in a band so I persuaded him to get his mates together and put on a show. They love doing it so it wasn’t too hard.”

Fatman Alley have previously performed at the Ty Coch Inn in Morfa Nefyn, as lead singer Richard Beeken has close family ties with the area.

A donation of £5 is suggested for the event, and charity buckets will be circulated round on the night.
