AN ABERYSTWYTH estate agent is to star in a new television show.
Love them or loathe them, over 50,000 of us in Wales rely on estate agents every year. Estate agents are often portrayed as smooth-talkers who are only interested in their commission and only liked when they have sold your property. But what are estate agents really like and what are the tricks of the trade?
Ar Werth, a new series for S4C, lifts the lid on the world of Wales’ estate agents. For five months, production company Boom Cymru followed six estate agencies from across Wales.
Viewers will meet Iestyn Leyshon of Aberystwyth-based estate agents Lloyd Herbert & Jones, a natural salesman who loves leg-pulling and a good laugh. Iestyn has faced some pretty unusual situations when visiting properties, including one naked vendor meeting him on the stairs! But will Iestyn get too attached to the property when he tries to sell his own family farm?
Iestyn said: “You need to be able to talk to people to do the job and a bit of humour does help.
“I’ve seen some interesting things over the years in doing this work and you usually have a gut feeling when you are going to sell a property for a good price.”
Series producer Catrin Rowlands said: “We wanted to get to know the real people behind the sales talk and blagging. What we found were people with a great sense of humour and a passion for selling properties in Wales.”
Viewers can see Ar Werth on Wednesday evening, 16 November, and Friday evening, 18 November.
