A DISABLED man has been left distraught after being told by a housing association he must get rid of his two companion dogs or face eviction from his Penparcau home.

Trevor Morgan, who lives in specially adapted living accommodation after being left partially paralysed following a car crash four years ago, has lived at his home in Ger y Ddôl with his carer daughter and two Jack Russell dogs for over two years.

An incident earlier this year saw one of 63-year-old Mr Morgan’s dogs bite a boy who the family claims “kicked” the dog while “skateboarding outside their home”, but added that the police took no action.

A referral of the incident was made to Tai Ceredigion, however, and the housing association issued notice that both dogs be re-homed or Mr Morgan and his six-months pregnant daughter would have to leave.

Tai Ceredigion said it does not comment on “individual tenancy enforcement issues” but that in cases where there is a “dangerous dog” which poses risk to the community or visiting workers, the association “seeks a solution” to “reduce the risk of danger” or arrange re-homing to a “more appropriate home”.
