A NOSTALGIC ex-soldier is hoping to re-establish contact with two friends he made in Meirionnydd nearly seven decades ago.
Bryn Evans, 75, contacted the Cambrian News with the intention of tracking down James ‘Jimmy’ Wareham and Jean Evans who were living in Tywyn in the mid-20th century.
Mr Evans served his national service in the town and made firm friends with the duo during his time there.
“I spent two years serving as an instructor with the 55th regiment in the Royal Army at Tonfanau Camp from 1949 to 1951,” he said.
“During this time I came to know a number of people in Towyn – as it was known then – and it would bring me particular pleasure to re-establish contact with Jean and ‘Jimmy’“
The former soldier grew up in south Wales in a farming family, but has subsequently moved to London for most of his life. He still has fond memories of his Tywyn acquaintances though.
If you have information regarding Jimmy and/or Jean, please email [email protected] or Mr Evans on [email protected].
