“VERY exciting” new plans for the redevelopment of Penparcau Community Centre have been presented to residents.

Penparcau Community Forum have unveiled plans for significant additions to the current community centre and boxing club, next to the park in Penparcau, after £490,000 was secured from the Welsh Government before Christmas, with another £150,000 coming from the People’s Health Trust.

The designs, prepared by architect David Thomas of Catalina Architecture, Aberystwyth, will include a “community heritage café” and outdoor sitting area, a training and education room, a training kitchen, a community office, “heritage exhibition area”, changing rooms, public toilets, all incorporated around the existing boxing club and fitness room.

Speaking to the Cambrian News ahead of the official presentation of architectural designs in the community centre last Friday, PCF director Dylan Jones said: “It is a very exciting opportunity for the community of Penparcau.

“One of the key things is how it will open up many people’s horizons and get people active in lots of different ways.”

Mr Jones added: “This will be something for the people of Penparcau to be very proud of.”
