Two Aberaeron restaurants are among a host of Ceredigion businesses shortlisted for honours at this year’s Food Awards Wales. The Hive and Y Seler have both been named as finalists for Restaurant of the Year at the 10th annual awards, which celebrate businesses and individuals across Wales’ food and hospitality industry.

They are among just 10 restaurants from across the country competing for the title, alongside businesses in Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, Kilgetty and elsewhere.

Aberaeron is also represented by The Moody Cow, which has been shortlisted for Café/Bistro of the Year.

Several other businesses from across Ceredigion have made the final lists in some of the awards’ major categories.

The Pentre Arms Hotel in Llangrannog and The Ferry Inn in Cardigan are both in contention for Gastro Pub of the Year, while Medina in Aberystwyth has been shortlisted for Best Mediterranean Establishment.

La Calabria in Llandysul is among the finalists for Best Italian Establishment.

Elsewhere, Nineteen.57 in Talybont has been nominated for Family Restaurant of the Year, while Bara Menyn Bakehouse & Stone Mill in Cardigan is in the running for Artisan Bakery of the Year.

Cardigan is also represented by Bwyty Maes y Parc in the Cookery School of the Year category.

The Food Awards Wales are organised by Oceanic Awards and are celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2026.

Organisers said the awards recognise “excellence, innovation, quality, and dedication” across the Welsh food and hospitality sector.

An Oceanic Awards spokesperson congratulated all of this year’s finalists and said the nominations demonstrated the “passion, talent and commitment” within the Welsh food industry.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in Swansea on Monday, 30 November.
