Madam,
Every weekend since the introduction of the free bus travel scheme I have made a point of visiting Aberaeron to have a walk around the town and as yesterday (Sunday) was the sunniest day I can remember in a long while, I had a good almost two-mile walk around the town. When I got to the car park next to the harbour I found something slightly odd, namely a Saltire (the name given to the national flag of Scotland) that was tied to the posts indicating parking spaces reserved for the doctors at Tanyfron Surgery but, thanks to the strong winds that have been affecting the whole county for a while now, was in danger of blowing away.
Having bought a flag myself of a similar scale (for the arrival of the Olympic Torch in 2012 and the Queen’s Baton Relay in 2014) I know just how expensive these flags can be and so made sure that it would not be blown away by detaching it from the posts, folding it up, placing it in my backpack and bringing it home where it is currently lying folded up neatly. The only thing that is left to do is to give it back to the people who tied it to those posts in the first place. Therefore I would ask that whoever did so reply to this letter where, and I give the editor full authorization to do so, the paper can pass on my postal address to them so that they can write to me with their postal address and I will be happy to post it (or if local deliver it to them the next time I am near them) as a mark of respect that national flags deserve.
Yours etc,
Harry Hayfield, Llanon.
