AN extraordinary family reunion has taken place in Aberystwyth to remember the life of one of its former residents.
John Evans was the mayor of the seaside town 101 years ago. And on Saturday, 30 July, his living relatives gathered in the town to honour his memory.
Richard Evans, John Evans’ great-great-grandson, organised the reunion and he and his wife, Kirsty, were among those who took part.
Speaking about the event, Richard said: “This family reunion has taken nearly three years to plan, but it was something that we all wanted to do in order to commemorate our family roots in Aberystwyth.
“We’ve had family come together from all over the UK and even fly in from Switzerland and Holland as it wasn’t an occasion that any of us wanted to miss!”
