A FAMILIAR face has returned to Llwyngwril.

Gwril the Giant, a popular local woollen mascot, has reclaimed his usual position peaking over the village’s bridge.

It’s the second reappearance of the knitted centrepiece this year after he was pulled out of storage for the summer.

Sadly the original Gwril was stolen from the village and despite pleas for his return, the four foot effigy was never returned.

As a result, the Llwyngwril yarn bombers, who have decorated the whole community with knitted displays, have worked tirelessly to recreate Gwril the Giant spending “a lot of time, effort and money” doing so.

The yarn giant was publicly unveiled recently amongst a slew of other woollen wonders all designed to celebrate the upcoming ‘International Sheep Dog Trials’ in Tywyn later this year.
