TWO families who were dragged out to sea in Tywyn last summer are searching for the heroes who rescued them from drowning.

Last July, six people, three of them children, were caught by a fierce riptide whilst in the sea in Tywyn.

Carly Simmonds, her children Tamsin, 12, and Harry, 10, and Jessica Evans, with her fiancé Stuart Tipton and daughter Mya, 10, who are all from Bayston Hill in Shropshire, were enjoying a day on the beach in Tywyn when they were caught by the tide.

Carly told the Cambrian News: “I am fully aware of the hazards the sea can present but I was not aware of any dangerous waters that day as it was a beautiful, warm, sunny afternoon, the sea looked beautifully calm.

“Harry and Mya were playing thigh-deep in the sea, with Tamsin and myself very close by.

“The situation then took a horrendous turn for the worse.

“My son suddenly seemed to be struggling to stand and looked as though he was being dragged backwards out to sea – Mya and Tamsin also.

“Within seconds, the children were up to their necks in the sea and their faces showed me how scared they were.”

As they tried to help, Carly, Jessica and Stuart were also pulled out to sea.

Four people, including a man called Alan, saved the day, and now the grateful families hope to trace them.
