HORSE riders, cyclists and walkers are now able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of north Ceredigion following the opening of a new bridleway.
The new route, at Coed Cymerau, near Eglwysfach, will enable users to avoid disturbing wild ponies populating the current Public Rights of Way bridleway, which forms part of the Wales Coastal Path.
Opened on Sunday, 24 July, the route links to 1.1 km of bridleway across to the Llyfnant valley and a network of long-distance, off-road Powys routes, as well as 1.6km of minor road to Eglwysfach and links to routes south in Ceredigion.
The opening of the route has been made possible through funding from the British Horse Society and their affiliated group, Ceredigion Bridleways Group, and with the permission of landowners, Mr and Mrs Jones of Ynyshir Farm, Mrs Bredow of Cymerau Hall, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
Fiona Evans, chair of CBG, said: “Twenty-two riders braved the rain to enjoy a scenic 14-mile ride across three valleys within the Cambrian Mountains, from sea level up to 400m."
