A LLANARTH farmer has received a £1,000 bursary from the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales

Carwyn Jones, 25, who is a member of Mydroilyn YFC, was awarded with a prize of £1,000 at the Royal Welsh Show after being named the winner of the 2016 Wales YFC Agricultural Bursary.

The award seeks to support young people who are striving to secure a future for themselves in agriculture and the panel of judges – Bryan Marsh, a past master of the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales, along with Andrew Richards, of the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales – decided that the deserving winner of the prize this year was Carwyn with his plans to reignite the family tradition of producing raw fresh milk from the dairy.

Carwyn is the third generation to farm at Penlan y Môr in Llanarth. The family farm runs herd of 200 milking cows and 450 breeding ewes along with a caravan park.

Having received the good news Carwyn said: “I’m overwhelmed to have won the bursary award and will take full advantage of the financial support given to invest in the future of my business but also to raise the profile of local produce."
