FATHER and son Dyfrig and Ieuan Harries have set out to ride motorbikes from southern Africa to their home town of Cardigan, with a goal of raising £2,000 for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.
Dyfrig and Ieuan started their journey on Monday, 1 May, setting off from Maun, Botswana, with the plan of travelling through 17 countries and two continents. The journey is set to last four months with the aim to be back in back in Cardigan by September.
Ieuan has been working as a bush pilot in Botswana and his experience is what inspired the father and son to embark on the challenge.
Dyfrig said: “We have always enjoyed adventures, especially involving bikes and travel. When Ieuan finished working in Botswana, it seemed obvious for us to ride to the UK together.
“I have always wanted to travel through Africa and being able to do that at the same time as raising money for the Noah’s Ark children’s charity seemed like an excellent idea. We believe the work the charity does in Wales in helping poorly children is amazing and we feel it is a very worthy cause.”
