Last week one of my elderly neighbours was walking home with his also elderly dog, they were walking on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic on a part of our rod which has no pavement but is in the 30mph speed limit.

A car came round the bend in the road by Cribyn school going so fast that it missed my neighbour by only a couple of feet. My neighbour was pulling his dog best he could up the bank to avoid the car and waved his hand in a slow down motion.

I saw the car stop and the man jump out and shout “what’s your problem” at the time I did not realise the man was shouting at my neighbour!

Well let me tell you here and now young man, our problem is people like you ignoring the 30 speed limit and driving so badly that you put lives at risk and adding insults by reacting aggressively when someone makes a comment on your driving!

Over the last three or four years speeding and bad driving has got so bad I have written to the police and crime commissioner, the county council, our member of parliament and this newspaper.

I get so angry hearing that my neighbour had to experience this aggressiveness when all the replies to my legitimate complaints about a dangerous stretch of road go unheeded and ignored.

I hear platitudes about lack of funds, no proof its dangerous, someone else will look at it etc etc!.

It seems to me, judging by looking at the surrounding area, that we do not have anyone of sufficient importance living in our village to warrant spending money on a couple of road signs or some paint or tarmac.

We are being let down, ignored and put in continual danger by those elected or employed to look after our safety.
