Car parking charges across the county are set to rise in May, as Ceredigion council announces plans to hike fees by as much as 11 per cent.

Ceredigion County Council, which owns 28 car parks in the county, has laid out its plans for new charges, which will come into force on 3 May.

The new charges will be in place as Wales and Ceredigion begins its journey to head out of lockdown with businesses eager to open up and welcome back customers and tourists.

In Aberystwyth, a two hour stay on New Promenade will rise more than 11 per cent, up 30p from £2.40 to £2.70, with a weekly parking pass rising from £15 to £16.30.

Park Avenue and Lower Park Avenue will both see a rise for a one hour stay from £1.70 to £1.90, with Maesyrafon and North Road seeing a smaller increase from £1.70 to £1.80 for a one hour stay.

A 24 hour stay at Canolfan Rheidol will rise from £1.70 to £1.90.

In Aberaeron, Pwll Cam will remain free but prices on South Beach and North Beach will rise to £2 for up to a two hours stay from £1.80.

Lower Regent Street car park will increase by 10p for up to a one hour stay.

In Cardigan, a two hour stay at Greenfield Square will rise from £1.80 to £2, while a 24 hour stay in Bath House will rise from £2.80 to £3.10.

In Fairfield and Quay Street, a one hour stay will rise from £1.50 to £1.60.

At Mwldan and Gloster Row, 24 hour stays will go up 30p to £3.10 from £2.80.

In Lampeter, a short stay at Market Street will now cost £1.60 up from £1.50.

A two hour stay at both the Rookery and Cwmins car parks will rise to £2 from £1.80.

At Porth Terrace car park in Llandysul, a two hour stay will rise to £1 from 90p.

In New Quay, Church Roas car park will cost £1.10 for up to an hours stay, up from £1, while Rock Street charges will rise to £1.60 from £1.50 for one hour.

In Tregaron, Tablot Yard car park will also increase to £1 for up to one hour, up 10p from 90p.

Ceredigion council also plan on increasing the cost of ‘reserved spaces’ on Poplar Row in Aberystwyth, and Pendre, Market Lane, Lower Mwldan and Fairfield Cardigan.

Long term parking permits across the county for three, six, nine and 12 months will rise to a minimum of £114, £190, £268, and £319 respectively.

Long-term parking permits for HGVs and coaches in Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Lampeter and New Quay will also rise by an average of six per cent.
