An Aberystwyth-based theatre company which turns 30 this year has organised a series of events to celebrate.
Arad Goch, which was founded in 1989, will re-tour its very first production, stage an international festival and make significant changes to its Bath Street home.
March in particular is an exciting month for Arad Goch, with the Opening Doors Festival signalling the start of a series of events to celebrate the company’s 30th birthday.
For the past 30 years the company has been creating exciting and relevant theatre for children and young people.
In addition, Arad Goch hosts drama clubs and a drama GCSE course, runs workshops and creates learning projects with schools.
The company’s timetable is jam packed every year, but 2019 will be even busier, and Arad Goch’s artistic director, Jeremy Turner, can’t wait.
Looking back on three decades of work, he said: “Theatre for young audiences is a specialist area.
“It has been a privilege for me to create theatre for the most important audience, namely the children and young people of Wales, for the past 30 years.
“Thank you to all our fantastic staff who have worked with the company over the years, our colleagues in other theatres and organisations, our audiences, and our many sponsors for their work and for their support.”
Opening Doors is the only festival of its kind in Wales.
From 16 to 23 March, Aberystwyth will be the international centre point of theatre for young audiences with over 40 performances in the area.
This is an opportunity for children, young people and families in Wales to experience some of the best among the international performing arts, as well as providing an opportunity for overseas visitors to experience the richness of Welsh performing arts.
The timetable includes performances for school, performances for buyers from all over the world and public performances in the evenings.
In addition, Opening Doors will host professional workshops, new productions and will hold exciting seminars.
