Madam,

I am based in Swansea and I am commissioning a film maker to make a short art film that will look at the themes of Time, Change and Place.

There will be a three-minute re-enactment and in addition it will have a documentary element that will provide a context.

The re-enactment will be based on the short walk from Cae Du farm (camp site) in Tywyn to the house in Rhoslefain, on the main road, which was once the primary school.

The reason behind this location is that my paternal grandfather, John Daniel Davies, who grew up in Pennal, was headteacher there during his twenties, in the years each side of the Great War, leaving in the summer of 1919 for a teaching post in the Rhondda. My grandfather appears on the 1911 census as lodger at Cae Du.

My grandfather died before I was born but my father used to tell me stories about when he was little and then he showed me a photograph of him taken with the pupils and this summer I found the school! I have been so excited about it.

The school is now a private dwelling.

I am wondering if any of your readers would be interested in doing a short video interview about changes over time in the area?

Jamie, the film maker, is keen to get a feel for the location, so we have earmarked the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, 27-29 November to visit the area. This could be an opportunity to meet anyone interested regarding a future video session.

I look forward to hearing from anyone interested.

Yours etc,

Carolyn Davies, Norton Road, Mumbles, Swansea. Tel: 01792 403549
