THE Welsh Quilt Centre’s final ever exhibition continues.

Nos da Goodnight! is a retrospective of the centre’s exhibitions over the last 10 years. The whole spectrum of Welsh quilting is on show, making this unmissable for lovers of textiles, art, history and Welsh culture.

The many facets of Welsh quilting on display date from the early 19th century to the mid-20th. Early utilitarian flannel quilts are hung alongside paisley, wholecloth and patchwork Welsh quilts.

The wider influence of Welsh quilting is also touched upon, such as its effect upon Amish communities of Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The centre’s star guest exhibitors are also back. Kaffe Fassetts’ dazzling quilts, the exquisite embroidery of Eirian Short, and even an Amish quilt from The American Museum in Britain can be seen alongside the Welsh quilts.

In Gallery Two, Welsh Samplers – Folk Art of Wales? is a rare and intriguing glimpse into the craft work of Welsh Samplers. Many of these intricate pieces were made by very young girls and are mainly from the 19th century.

Gallery Three will welcome a diverse range of artists throughout the year. The delightful work of renowned textile artist Janet Bolton is currently on display

Jen Jones would like to thank all visitors to the Welsh Quilt Centre for their encouragement and support over the last decade.

After much deliberation, she has decided to close the centre as she feels she has done as much as she can to raise the profile of Welsh quilts in Wales.

Over 10 years she has beautifully exhibited the whole spectrum of Welsh quilts from her private collection in this wonderfully restored venue.

Unbelievably she is now approaching her 80th year and so has decided to use her time and energy to share the heritage of Welsh quilts abroad through exhibitions in venues worldwide.

She hopes that you will be able to make it to Lampeter this year to see her final show in The Old Town Hall!

Nos da Goodnight! A Panoply of Historic Welsh Quilts runs until 10 November.

The centre is open Tuesday-Saturday, from 11am to 4.30pm.
