AN Aberaeron firefighter’s long and dedicated service to his community has been recognised by the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Huw Lloyd was recently presented with a long service medal marking 42 years in the fire brigade.

Huw followed his father George Lloyd, known to all as George Pencarreg, into the brigade. George retired as a leading fireman with 34 years service.

Their remarkable family record of 76 years will be added to, though, as Huw doesn’t intend to retire for a while yet.

County Cllr Elizabeth Evans and Aberaeron town mayor Cllr Rhys Davies are seen congratulating and thanking Huw on behalf of the local community.
