BOW Street’s popular annual fireworks display will not take place this year because of concerns over the number of coronavirus cases in north Ceredigion.
Bow Street FC, who organise the annual Bonfire night spectacle, confirmed this morning that they had taken the difficult decision not to proceed with this year’s display at Cae Piod.
Rhydypennau Playing Fields Association Chairman Rhodri Morgan said: “Officials at the club and those at RPFA have discussed at length the issues relating to hosting our annual under the current circumstances – the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and a continued number of cases across north Ceredigion have meant that we simply have to put the wider interests and safety of the community first.
“We very much hope that we can put a bigger and better event on in 2022.”
Bow Street FC Chairman Wyn Lewis added: “There are a number of safety considerations required despite this being an outdoor event and we hope to be able to host this much-loved local event next year, as well as our annual Football Festival which promises to be better than ever.”
The latest figures show that there were 32 new cases of Covid-19 between 9-15 October in the Borth and Bontgoch area.
Aberystwyth’s fireworks display is still going ahead on Friday, 5 November at the town’s rugby club.
