Other Voices, Ireland’s internationally acclaimed music festival, returns to Cardigan, this November and the artists performing at The Music Trail have been announced.
From 3 to 5 November, the festival will present an inspirational programme of live music and compelling and provocative discussion that celebrates the enduring cultural and musical ties between Ireland and Wales.
The Music Trail, a series of performances around the town, will showcase a whole host of wonderful Welsh and Irish artists and the first 10 performers are now announced.
From Wales the first five acts are multi-instrumentalist Cerys Hafana, singer-songwriter Eve Goodman, chamber folk trio VRï, garage-rock foursome, Los Blancos, and Welsh-language rap duo Lloyd & Dom James.
Among the first wave of Irish acts announced are acclaimed singer-songwriter Niamh Regan, slouch rocker Skinner, electronic artist Daithí, psych rock five piece MELTS, and experimental musician-composer Rachael Lavelle, who will all be bringing their sounds across the sea to Wales to raise their voices.
Following on from 2021’s digital edition, this year’s festival is back in full swing and will feature two nights of headline performances in St Mary’s Church, 80 live sets across the town as part of the Music Trail plus three days of ‘Clebran Sessions’ - a curated series of talks with artists, journalists, creatives and politicians sparking enriching, lively conversations about how we perceive our world, language and culture.
All performances from St Mary’s Church will be streamed globally for free via Other Voices’ YouTube channel and social media pages.
The event will be hosted by Huw Stephens and presented in partnership between South Wind Blows, Mwldan and Triongl.
Dilwyn Davies, CEO of Mwldan said: “We’re thrilled that Other Voices will be returning to Cardigan in 2022. We will once again be celebrating the special links between Cardigan and Dingle, two culturally vibrant towns on the western edges of their respective countries, Wales and Ireland.
“It’s a great honour for Cardigan to be the Other Voices location in Wales. It reinforces the sense of Cardigan’s resurgence as a place where art, culture, creativity and environment form the very foundations of our community. And we’re looking forward to welcoming our friends from Ireland, and to three days of truly magnificent music.”
Philip King, founder of Other Voices said: “We are delighted to be bringing Other Voices back to beautiful Cardigan this November and to see the seeds of partnership sown in 2019 deepen and strengthen. This event will build on the conversation we began with our partners at Mwldan and Triongl back in 2016.”
