FIGHTING-fit fund-raisers will push themselves to the limit in a gruelling endurance event to help save lives in the area.

On Saturday several volunteers will undergo 24-hours of sparring to help raise money for first-aid courses.

The initiative, organised by David Hughes of Alpha Unit in Rhydymain, will see people sparring off against each other and raising money and awareness for potentially lifesaving procedures.

As well as the arduous fitness challenges, there will also be various games and raffles running on the day with signed items from rally ace Elfyn Evans, rugby star Elen Evans and champion kickboxer Sandy Holt.

All money raised will go towards funding a first-aid course for locals in the Dolgellau area.

David, who held a similar event last year, said: “This cause is so important and its for the local community. Please get behind us.

“We will be holding 24 hours of sparring at the gym to raise enough money to pay for vital first aid training for the local community.

“We will start at 8am on 27 January

“There will also be an open day at the gym on the same day for anyone to come and watch.

“This promises to be a great day so come along.”

David hopes to raise at least £500 through the event.
