I see that Gower has been named by money.co.uk as the “best place in the UK to go for a staycation with good social distancing” in the 2020 Safecation Report.
Well done Gower. But the list depends on “lack of crowding” and according to the website, the whole of the Gower only has 149,089 visitors per year. That’s clearly nonsense, they get far more than that!
The Gower Peninsula is about 70 square miles in area and has the city of Swansea, with a population of 311,408, (do they alone never visit Gower?) extending into part of it. So how is it a “remote location” as described? It’s on the edge of a city!
I surveyed parts of Swansea for the Ordnance Survey over 50 years ago, and there were plenty of people around in the hotels of Caswell and Langland Bays even on a Wednesday in those days... in winter!
Did the survey even look at Ceredigion? We do “remote” far better than anywhere in South Wales. We have a mere 77,000 people in 688 square miles without a city to be seen until one reaches Swansea.
We can also offer a beautiful destination, in Gwbert. And Ceredigion has the lowest rate of Covid-19 in Wales or England.
So you’ve seen Blackpool’s tall tower? And even the beaches of Gower? So for your staycation, or any vacation, visit Gwbert!
