Madam,

I read your article on discussions about keeping open toilets in Machynlleth and Llanidloes with interest, because there is much discussion in our area about such closures. We have lost four public conveniences in Tywyn, with no hope whatsoever of them being replaced. There have been pleas and much in print, at all levels, but to no avail. We have been told categorically what we have is acceptable and all we are going to have.

We were advised to ask in shops or to go into the cafes, when in need of facilities, which immediately means being obliged. This, to my mind, is wrong. I am quite sure elderly folk are dubious about going out when they not sure of conveniences and how far apart they are. I wish the endeavours in the Dyfi Valley every success in the future.

It seems to me that everything has importance, except people. No matter which area or level of a topic people are asking for, they are asking for nothing spectacular, only fair play and no further losses or deprivation on what they have known.

We not seeing or witnessing any direction of progress; on the contrary we are regressing and we are told this is austerity in measure and can only get worse. Anything can be borne if an end to such is known. However, we are told by higher authority that the true cut-backs are not in place yet. Is this all we are worth?

Yours etc
