Madam,

Leading breast cancer charity Breast Cancer Care is launching an event in Aberystwyth to help women live life beyond breast cancer with confidence.

Working in partnership with Bronglais Hospital, Breast Cancer Care’s Moving Forward one-day course will provide information and support for women at the end of their treatment.

The free course covers a range of topics including adjusting and adapting after a breast cancer diagnosis, managing ongoing side effects of treatment, such as fatigue, getting active and healthy eating. It also includes talks from experts, including occupational therapists and dieticians, providing guidance.

Moving Forward: Living with and Beyond Breast Cancer takes place at the National Library of Wales on Wednesday, 25 October, from 10am to 4pm.

The people we support tell us that when you’ve finished breast cancer treatment, getting back to ‘normal’ can feel like a huge mountain to climb. Many expect to be hugely relieved, but instead can feel scared about what lies ahead. For some, this is the hardest part of their breast cancer, even more difficult than the diagnosis itself.

Around 691,000 people are alive in the UK after a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the numbers are only set to rise, so it’s crucial we do more to reach as many of those who need support as possible.

This course offers an invaluable opportunity for women to meet others who understand exactly how they’re feeling, support each other and learn about a range of topics to help empower them to approach life after treatment with more confidence.

The event is free of charge, but places are limited so people must register in advance by contacting Breast Cancer Care on 0345 0771893 or movingforward@breastcancercare.org.uk

Yours,

Marguerite Holloway, services development manager at Breast Cancer Care.
