A JustGiving fundraising page has been set up in memory of a well-known and popular family man who died following a crash in Scotland.

Father-of-one Gwyndaf John Bailey, 37, died on Wednesday, 27 February, after being involved in a collision with a car while out on his bike near Edinburgh.

Mr Bailey, a former Ysgol y Moelwyn pupil, was living in nearby Livingston at the time of the crash.

But he was originally from Blaenau Ffestiniog where he used to work in the quarries and as a shop supervisor in Porthmadog.

He lived in the town until 2008 when he moved to Scotland after falling in love with his wife Leanne.

They have a daughter, Emily, who is eight years old.

Mr Bailey’s brother Emlyn said the family had been left “devastated” by his tragic death.

He said: “It is hard to put into words how devastated we all are.

“He was a family-oriented man. They meant the world to him.

“He was a really popular guy and had a lot of friends. He would be outside playing all the time and was in a band with his mates.

“He was really outgoing and would enjoy going out for a pint.”

One of Mr Bailey‘s biggest passions was being outdoors, running, cycling, climbing and taking part in Tough Mudder competitions.

The page has been set up by his friend Dafydd Griffith and has raised more than £2,000 already.

On the page, Mr Griffith said: “Gwyndaf was a great man who made a positive impact on everyone he met and will be sorely missed.

“The main objective of this page is to raise as much funds as possible in order to support Leanne and Emily’s future prospects, so please donate what you can and share this page so we can show our love and support.”
