A TRIO of friends are preparing to walk 90 miles in just three days to raise money for Abersoch RNLI Lifeboat station.

And the ‘Coast 2 Coast’ walk, which will start on the west coast of England at Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria, and follow the Hadrian’s Wall path to Tynemouth, on the east coast, will be in the memory of the late father of one of the walkers.

David McNidder, whose father Brian McNidder “staunchly supported” Abersoch RNLI lifeboat station, will be joined by friends Tim Williams and Tom Marlow when he embarks on his epic challenge on Saturday, 27 May.

“The walk is usually completed in six days, but we are looking to do it in half that time,” said Mr McNidder.

“We will be raising funds for the RNLI which not only performs an invaluable service every day, but are also an organisation which Brian staunchly supported, particularly the Abersoch RNLI.”

The threesome have already started their training, with a 26-mile walk along The Arden Way, Henley, Warwickshire, last weekend.

Last year, the three friends, from Solihull in the West Midlands, presented a cheque for £3,773.88 to Abersoch RNLI lifeboat station after completing the Three Peaks Challenge, which involved scaling Ben Nevis, Scafel Pike and Snowdon in 23 hours.

Mr McNidder added: “Please do what you can to support our challenge and raise money for the RNLI by donating as we aim to raise £1,000.

“Thank you for your support and wish us luck.”
