Madam,

Having endured yet another plumbing problem at home on a Sunday afternoon, I feel compelled to express my dismay at the lack of emergency cover in mid Wales.

It is the same scenario with all the services. There is no reliable 24-hour cover for plumbing, LPG, solid fuel appliances or electrics. Many of us are forced to wait weeks or months for repairs.

I am not criticising any of the local engineers here, as I realise that most of them are small firms who are thoroughly over-worked.

However, I do feel that we need a contingency service, where consumers pay a moderate premium for the reassurance of a guaranteed repair within hours. Anyone willing to undertake such a business in this area would make an absolute fortune!

For every person like me there are a hundred others, all waiting for repairs to their plumbing, LPG appliances, solid fuel stoves and electrical systems!

More to the point, how many of those desperate consumers feel the same way as I do?
