A FISHY charity cycle ride is taking place is aid of Wales Air Ambulance, with fund-raisers cycling 50 miles dressed as sea creatures.
The 2016 ‘Pike on a Bike’ cycle ride will take keen fund-raisers on a gruelling loop through south Snowdonia in fancy dress to raise donations for the Welsh helicopter charity.
The cyclists in fish fancy dress will meet at The Red Lion, Dinas Mawddwy, on 2 July, to start their arduous charity cycle ride.
Darren Wilkes, organiser of ‘Pike on a Bike’, said: “The event has been running for three years, and we have chosen to do the event in aid of Wales Air Ambulance this year as I spend a lot of time in Dinas Mawddwy, and we see the air ambulance a lot around there.
“One of our riders, Mark Fellows, has had to use the service last year after falling from a tree, which also inspired
us to donate to WAA this year.”
All proceeds from the unique charity bike ride will be going to Wales Air Ambulance, helping the charity to raise the £6 million a year needed to run the service.
Lynne Garlick, North Wales WAA fund-raising manager, said: “Pike on a Bike is such a unique fund-raising event, which will be a great deal of fun as well as raising money for Wales Air Ambulance.
“Pike on a Bike will help us to save lives by helping us to fund our missions, and we would like to thank everyone who will be taking part for their support.”
