A fund set up in memory of an Aberystwyth woman who died after she was hit by a car while sleeping in a tent has reached its £5,000 target.
Anna Evans, 46, was left in a critical condition after she was struck by a car in an incident at the Rhyd y Galen campsite near Caernarfon in the early hours of Monday, 19 August, and sadly died on 27 August at a hospital in Stoke.
Talented artist Anna was well-known for her work and a fundraising page was set up to create a community grant in her memory.
Organisers hoped the fund would hit £5,000 and, less than three weeks after it was set up, it has.
Family friend Stephen Griffiths, who has helped Anna’s relatives to set-up the fundraising page said: “The response to the crowd funding campaign has been overwhelming. The donations received along with the comments on the page go to show how much of an impact Anna had on the lives of those in Ceredigion.
“In just under three weeks we have reached our goal of £5,000 on JustGiving, with people still messaging to say they’ll donate at the end of the month.
“The figure on the site doesn’t include offline donations which are currently in excess of £400.
“I’m confident in saying that we will easily reach £6,000 to help fund community arts in the area.
“Again, thank you to everyone who has donated so far.”
The fundraising page, at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/annaevans, will remain active until 1 January for anyone else who would like to donate.
