An animal rights activist has organised an event in Aberystwyth to raise money for animals affected by the Australian bushfires.

Rebecca Bell has organised a pop-up shop in the Aber Food Surplus Hub to raise money for The Humane Society International.

The money raised for the charity will help efforts to rescue and rehabilitate animals that have been injured in the “catastrophic” Australian bush fires.

Rebecca is working in collaboration with Aber Food Surplus to hold the pop-up shop every Thursday, for four weeks, from today.

The animal welfare campaigner said: “Aber Food Surplus have so very generously allowed us to use their eco food sharing hub to fully support and establish this.”

The pop-up shop, which opened today for the first time, will be open from noon to 5pm for the next three Thursdays.

Rebecca is accepting financial donations but also good quality small household goods, bric-a-brac, books, and clothes to sell in the pop-up shop to raise further funds.

Rebecca, who is a member of West Wales Animal Action group, said: “The fires continue to take a tragic toll on wildlife, with many species now facing extinction. We are determined to help.

“Please feel reassured every penny raised will go to help the animals who need it most.”

For more information or to donate, you can visit the pop-up shop or call Rebecca on 07398 832563.
