A FUND-RAISING champion has left “very big shoes to fill” after retiring as chair of a charity which has raised over £60,000 under her stewardship.

Greta Lee was the main organiser for Tywyn and Aberdyfi Ty Gobaith friends group when it was established in 2007 and has held countless events raising money for life-limited children across the region.

Greta is retiring as chair of the group, but will continue working on the committee, and has nothing but fond memories of her time in charge.

“We’ve managed to raise £60,300 in the last 10 years with fund-raisers and dance shows,” said the 84-year-old.

“I’m retiring due to an illness in the family, but I’d like to offer my grateful thanks to everyone who has supported me and the group over the years.

“Special thanks should go to Co-op Tywyn who have always help so much.

“I wish Cathy Evans every success as the new chairperson.”

Cathy, who also sits on Tywyn Town Council, said: “I’d just like thank Greta on behalf of our group for all her hard work and dedication over the last 10 years.

"She’s leaving me with some very big shoes to fill!”
