A fundraiser by the family of Aberystwyth photographer Keith Morris has already raised twice as much as targeted for the RNLI.

The body of 61-year-old Mr Morris was found by the RNLI in the sea at Ynyslas after he had been reported missing on Friday, 4 October.

Following the efforts by the RNLI to locate Mr Morris, who was described as a supporter of the RNLI, his wife Gillian launched a fundraising effort to raise money for the RNLI.

An initial target of raising £600 was set, but that has already been exceeded by a huge amount with the total more than doubled just days after the appeal was set up and around £1,600 already raised.

On the JustGiving fundraising page, Mrs Morris said: “I have set up this page to raise money in memory of my husband Keith Morris whose body was found at sea and safely returned to us.

“The crews from Aberystwyth, Borth and New Quay were all called out to search for him.”

Following the announcement that Mr Morris had passed away, there was a string of tributes paid to him saying that he and his photographs had helped put Aberystwyth on the map, and Ceredigion AM Elin Jones describing him as “one of Aberystwyth’s favourite sons”.
