A FUNDRAISER has been set up to support a Borth family who lost their home in a large fire on Friday.
Over 30 firefighters were called to Borth on Friday afternoon and the blaze burnt into the night, with nearby residents evacuated to the community hall, before returning to their homes at around 11pm last night.
No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the fire, but it is believed that the family may have lost some pets.
In response to the blaze, a friend of the Jarvis family whose house was destroyed by the fire, has set up a Gofundme page to offer the family some support.
Kat Sankey, who set up the fundraising page, which has already raised over £2,000, said: “I’m fundraising for very good friends of mine, a well known family from the Borth area (Jarvis’s) have lost there family home and everything inside due to a house fire which happened on 3 September.
“They have nothing left, lost everything from work tools, clothes, money, sentimental items which can not be replaced and also some pets.
“I know money can not replace some of the items lost as they are sentimental value but anything is a help to get them back on the feet, clothes on their backs and to help raise money to buy the essential items.
“They really do have nothing!
“Borth has a fantastic community and we all pull together in times like these!
“Heartbroken for them as they stand by and watch their family home burn to the ground and not been able to do a single thing about it!
“Even if you can only spare £1 anything helps to give them some form of hope of rebuilding there lives and try and put a smile on the boys faces again!”
Fire crews are still on the scene today dampening the area down and High Street remains closed.
There has been praise for the community effort following the outbreak of the fire at around 3.30pm on Friday.
A community Facebook page said: “Thanks to Cllr Ray Quant and the BSPFA for opening the Community Hall last night as a reception area for those evacuated.
“Also to Dr Andrea Hughes for her efforts ensuring plentiful supply of teas and coffee etc. Thanks also to Steve the caretaker for his assistance and to the local
Businesses that contributed supplies.”
