A FUNDRAISING evening in memory of a young mum who passed away due to terminal illness has raised a substantial four-figure sum.
Donna McClelland, the partner of Arwel Pritchard and mother of their two boys - eight-year-old Danial and Ciaran, 12 - died in May after a long battle with cancer.
Recently Donna’s auntie Karen organised a night of music and memories at Donna’s local rugby club in Abererch featuring an array of singing talent.
Dilwyn Pritchard - Arwel’s brother - took to the stage as Elvis and was also joined by Welsh music icon Dafydd Iwan and country duo John ac Alun.
Karen was delighted with the way the evening progressed.
“We sold over 100 tickets and there were a lot more there on the night,” she said.
“The pot is still open but we’ve raised £1,475 so far which is fantastic, it was a great night.
“We’re going to put the money towards a memorable bench in Abererch so we will all have somewhere to go to remember Donna.
“It suits her, she was always thinking of other people rather than herself.
“Even during her illness she was always on the phone to other people suffering with the same condition trying to help and talk them through.
“I’m so very proud of her, we all are.”
