A LAMPETER town councillor is furious that the town’s highly-successful food festival did not warrant a mention in Ceredigion County Council’s Ceredigion Food Festivals leaflet.
Cllr Elsie Dafis told colleagues at last week’s meeting that the snub was inexplicable and unacceptable.
“When it comes to promoting tourism the county council really needs to show some joined-up thinking rather than just relying on volunteers,” she told colleagues. “Tourism should be an integral part of the economic strategy of Ceredigion.
“I’m afraid this once again shows what an ad-hoc approach to tourism Ceredigion has. We in Lampeter are left out all the time.
“On the comment sheets we put out for feedback people were saying Lampeter was the best food festival in the county.”
The brochure - produced by the local authority and funded by the Welsh Government - features the Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival in Aberaeron, Cardigan River and Food Festival, Aberystwyth’s Sea2Shore Food Festival and the Aberystwyth Food and Drink Festival.
County councillor Hag Harris pointed out that Lampeter Food Festival did receive financial support from County Hall, but conceded: “This is clearly an error and it’s not good enough."
