AN Aberystwyth woman who won a prize on ITV’s Saturday Night Takeaway show was about to watch a film at the cinema when she realised the show was in town.

Each week, the show places a sofa at an undisclosed location and asks viewers who recognise where it is to go along.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, Gabriella, who works at the Superdrug store on Great Darkgate Street, said she was in the cinema with friends and about to watch the film Fifty Shades Darker when they found out the sofa was on top of Constitution Hill.

“I was with my friends in the cinema and, before the adverts started, we saw it on Facebook and decided to leave the cinema and go up Consti,” she said.

“We caught the last tram up to the top. There were quite a few people up there so it was pretty crowded, and really cold with the wind.”

Attendees were each given a number, and after her number was drawn out in the first round, a second draw then picked Aberystwyth as the winner, meaning Gabriella had won.

“It was strange because we were quite far back, and when they drew the number, my friends were saying ‘it’s your number, it’s your number’,” she added.

“I went through everyone to get to the front and then this cannon went off with confetti coming out. I do look a little confused on TV."
