Two paramedics joined a dance party on a Porthmadog street, dubbed Happy Street by locals, to lift spirits during the coronavirus pandemic.
Chapel Street has been holding dance classes on the street to keep spirits high during uncertain times.
Paramedic Corrina Pritchard, who herself grew up on Chapel Street, and her colleague Ann Marie Ridley joined the street dance party on 7 April to thank the residents for their support.
Corrina commented: “My parents had a house there and I know everybody on that street, so it’s quite personal to me.
“We just wanted to say thanks, we didn’t expect the welcome we had.
“They gave us some presents and the whole street was out clapping. I got very emotional.
“The children made us a mascot and I asked a little boy what we should call him, he said Germ.”
Donna Ojemeyi, one of the Chapel Street residents, said: “Chapel Street, known to us as Happy Street, has become a hub for us as residents.
“Every Thursday, we dedicate our evening to thanking the frontline workers, we dance on our doorsteps and show them our appreciation.
“It was amazing when we were accompanied by two paramedics who joined in on the fun, laughing and smiling with us, even through this unsettling time.”
Donna continued: “We have started a collection box on our street for the NHS, frontline workers and nursing home staff where we have started collecting donations and we have purchased NHS flags to put up in the street.
“We are so grateful for everything the frontline workers are doing for us, we could not thank them enough.”
