A community cycling project in Aberystwyth has received a £500 grant, to help them continue providing “accompanied and inclusive” bike rides.
Wheel Together cycling club has been given £500 in funding, thanks to the People’s Postcode Lottery’s Magic Little Grants.
The Wheel Together committee hope this funding boost will allow them to “more confidently provide accompanied and inclusive cycle rides for our members”.
The group “aims to have fun whilst exercising with like-minded people”, naturally promoting “healing for a wide range of health conditions from depression to obesity, to name a few”.
They cater for people of all abilities, providing short rides for novices and longer rides for competent cyclists. The team have a wide range of bikes and trikes, of varying sizes, for members to book in advance.
The Aberystwyth group enjoy “beautiful and safe cycle paths” around the town, which often end on the promenade, while longer rides go further afield.
Kath Phillips, from Wheel Together, said: “Our club aims to enable as many people as possible to experience and develop a love of cycling and exhilaration using the wide variety of trikes and bikes we have available.
“We are delighted to have received help from Local giving Magic Little Grant Fund, and would like to thank players of the Postcode Lottery.”
Wheel Together are also welcoming potential new volunteer ride leaders, offering free British Cycling Level one training.
