AN Aeron valley community group has handed out over £7,000 to local charities after disbanding.
At the Vale of Aeron, Felinfach recently, the Mid-Aeron Community Association/Cymdeithas Canolbarth Aeron, shared out £7,729.28 to local charities.
The association was established in 1970.
Its intentions are to promote and advance education, social welfare, recreation and leisure-time facilities.
It became of immense benefit to the welfare of the area, and it was resolved to have an appropriate building to serve as a village hall.
A used structure was removed from south Wales and erected in the village of Talsarn, with the official opening on 8 May 1982 performed by the late Reggie Jones.
It was an asset to the community; a snooker table and matt bowling were provided and used weekly, as well as a host of other activities.
This continued for many years but sadly, as time changed, less and less use was made of the establishment and only a small revenue was coming in.
The committee resolved to close and dismantle the village hall. Brenda and Dan James cared for the hall throughout its existence. The structure was dismantled in 2016 leaving a huge void in many senses.
The remaining assets held were distributed among a number of charities and institutions.
