An up-and-coming local artist will launch his debut album in Ceredigion tomorrow, and he would love for you to hear him play.
George Nash, a fingerstyle guitarist from Aberystwyth, has already been scouted and endorsed by Dowina Guitars (Slovakia) who have built the 19-year-old his own custom model.
And now the former Comins Coch and Ysgol Penglais student is getting ready to launch his first album at Ceredigion Museum on Wednesday, 7 August.
“There will be a launch party at the folk club and entry is free!” said George.
The teenager is hoping to make music a full-time career and has recently returned from the The Academy of Contemporary Music Guildford.
Describing his musical influences, George said: “I’ve got loads but the majority are other guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel, Mike Dawes, or Jon Gomm.
“In terms of non-guitarists though, I would say Linkin Park, Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard and Fleetwood Mac are the main ones.”
Looking back to how he first learnt to play, George said: “I started off with a teacher named Jeremy Richardson in 2013 who’s based in Llanilar.
“His teaching made me super driven to pursue music, which I started with classical guitar, but after looking around for cool things to practice, I came across ‘modern’ and more popular ways of playing the guitar, known as fingerstyle, where you pretty much use the guitar to sound like a full band all at once which includes drumming on it.
“Anyway, Jeremy learned and taught me these weird techniques which were very complicated, and I’m so glad that he did!”
You can see George, and hear him perform, at the launch of his album which takes place as part of Aberystwyth Folk Club’s usual session at Ceredigion Museum, on Wednesday night, 7 August, at 7.30pm.
